2007 Halloween 100 Bike Ride

4th Annual Habitat of Durham Halloween 100 Bike Ride

Let’s celebrate the BOO-tiful rain by riding in it (if it continues)…only bad witches will melt! :)

The following plans are for Friday's Full Moon Meander and all Saturday rides.
- We’ll ride rain or shine! There is no rain date.
- We’ll cancel only in the case of severe weather.
- Ride and weather updates will be posted at noon Fri., Oct. 26 on our Web site or call 919-682-0516, ext. 107.

Fri., Oct. 26
Full Moon Meander, 6:33 p.m.
16mi group ride starts at moonrise! (head and tail lights required)

Sat., Oct. 27
Scenic Durham County Rides
100mi, 8:30 a.m., ROUTE
62mi, 9:30 a.m., ROUTE
31 mi, 10 a.m., ROUTE

Family Fun Ride, 10:30 a.m.
6-12 miles on the American Tobacco Trail

All rides are fully supported and start and finish at the American Tobacco Historic District located at 318 Blackwell St. in downtown Durham. For directions, CLICK HERE.

Registration Fees:
•$35 pre-registration for Fri. Full Moon Meander
•$35 pre-registration for Sat. routes. At least 1 adult family member must register for the Family Fun Ride. You'll be asked to give names and DOBs of other family riders when you register.
•$60 pre-registration special for Full Moon Meander and Sat. route
•$45 walk-on registration for Fri. Full Moon Meander
•$45 walk-on registration for Sat. route

Registration Methods:
•ONLINE pre-registration closes at 11:59 p.m. EST, Wed., Oct. 24. CLICK HERE to register.
•PAPER registrations must be post marked by Fri., Oct. 19. CLICK HERE to download a form.
•WALK-ON registration is available the day of the ride. Bring your completed registration form.
•MINORS under the age of 18 must mail in a completed paper registration form with a parent/guardian signature. Cyclists under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the ride.

Halloween 100 Details:
The “spooktacular” Halloween 100 bike ride benefits Habitat for Humanity of Durham. Ride with Habitat Fri. Oct. 26th and Sat. Oct. 27th and help build homes, hope and community in Durham!

Fri., Oct. 26
New this year thanks to a full moon! Experience downtown Durham and the American Tobacco Trail by moonlight on the Full Moon Meander. The 16 mile group ride starts at moonrise, 6:33 p.m.

12-14 mph avg. rolling speed. Tail and head lights required. Reflective clothing strongly encouraged. Police escorts will lead and sweep the route.

Pre-registered check-in and walk-on registration is open from 5-6:00 p.m. at the American Tobacco Historic District. All riders must wear helmets, have tail and head lights, be registered and must check-in to receive rider ID and cue sheets. The group will depart at 6:33 p.m. sharp.

Sat., Oct. 27
This year’s updated routes will highlight scenic views of Durham County. Cyclists can ride 100mi, 62mi or 31 mi. The 100mi begins at 8:30 a.m. followed by the 62mi at 9:30 a.m. and the 31mi at 10 a.m. The 100mi and 62mi routes are being called the HILLoween 100 and will be a spooktacular challenge. These two routes will take laps around the Orange County Speedway!

Is a relaxed ride more of a treat for your family? Join the Family Fun Ride and travel 6-12 miles on the American Tobacco Trail. The ride begins at 10:30 a.m. At least 1 adult family member must register for the Family Fun Ride. You'll be asked to give names and DOBs of other family riders when you register.

Pre-registered check-in and walk-on registration for Saturday’s rides opens at 7:30 a.m. at the American Tobacco Historic District. All riders must wear helmets, be registered and must check-in to receive rider ID and cue sheets. All rides will start on time. Please arrive early.

Although it’s not required to ride, gear up for a “ghoulish” good time and compete for best costume! The winner will receive a gift certificate from one of our generous bike shop sponsors.

Donations:Raise the Roof Rewards Program!
The Halloween 100 is a fund-raising ride. Although donations are not required, we hope you'll help raise funds to make the dream of home ownership a reality for a deserving family in Durham.

When you register, pledge to participate in the Halloween 100 Raise the Roof Rewards Program and help Habitat build a home for a family in need. For each donation you make or collect, you “purchase” an element of a Habitat home and receive special Halloween 100 "treats".
- Donate/collect $25 to “buy” a door bell chime and button and receive cycling socks.
- Donate/collect $200 (or more) to buy a front door and receive cylcing socks and a Halloween 100 long sleeve t-shirt.
- Donate/collect $500 (or more) to buy landscaping materials and receive socks, a t-shirt and a Halloween 100 jersey.

There are many ways to contribute.
1. Make a donation when you register.
2. Ask your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors to donate on your behalf.
3. Collect donations and bring them with you to the event. Please make checks payable to Habitat of Durham.

Important Safety Information:
All roads are open to regular traffic. Please be courteous and ride single file, stop at all stop signs and obey all traffic laws.

ANSI, ASTM, CPSC or Snell certified helmets are mandatory for all riders. Riders are responsible for keeping their bicycles in safe working condition. Minors under the age of 18 must ride with a parent or guardian. Please carry a spare tube, patch kit, pump and water bottle.
